On April 19th, 1943, Albert Hofmann dosed himself with lysergic acid diethylamide. After experiencing intense changes in perception, his lab assistant gave him a ride home on his bicycle. Intense feelings of anxiety and paranoia would soon give way to euphoria and fantastic images playing out on his closed eyelids.
